Located in the heart of Richmond, the Verizon Wireless Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center at Virginia Commonwealth University offers convenience to the entire state of Virginia. Its purpose is to provide a quality multi-purpose indoor facility that can accommodate Division I NCAA athletics, and serve as a general
purpose assembly space for a variety of special events.
The $30.1 million, 190,000 square foot facility opened its doors in May of 1999, and has become a focal point for VCU and the City of Richmond.
The Siegel Center houses VCU’s top-notch men’s and women’s basketball programs, as well as the school’s volleyball squad.
The Siegel Center has also served as host to a number of events. Since 2005, the Washington Wizards have called the facility their training camp home. The Virginia High School Athletic League, also calls on the Verizon Wireless Arena to house its basketball and volleyball state championships. In 2000, the Siegel Center held the NCAA Volleyball Final Four.
Recently, it has also hosted concerts by James Taylor, Sheryl Crow and T.I., as well as exhibition tennis matches with Andy Roddick, James Blake, Andre Agassi, and Steffi Graf, just to name a few.
